Navigate controls and reporting

Operational requirements bring the regulatory framework closer to daily work. Review the activity, timing, responsible owner and expected evidence alongside the linked requirements.

The work queue brings eligible dated controls into focus. The broader library keeps reference material, event-driven requirements and unresolved scheduling items available for review.

  • Controls. Understand what needs to be done and which requirements it supports.
  • Reporting. Explore reporting requirements, timing and supporting operational work.
  • Scheduling. Distinguish known dates from work that still depends on an event, an input or configuration.
A schedule is not proof of completion.

Planning and execution are different. A listed control, a due date or a written policy does not by itself establish that a control operated effectively.

Connect the requirement to the work

A control requirement gives operational context to an obligation. Review the activity, responsible owner, timing and expected evidence where those details are recorded, alongside the underlying regulatory requirement.

That connection helps distinguish why a control is needed from how the firm carries it out. A policy may describe the intended process, while a completed review or other evidence may help establish what actually happened.

Use the linked requirements to frame the work and the evidence you need to examine. A listed control is a starting point for implementation and review, not a statement that the firm has already satisfied the obligation.

Plan around dates and triggering events

Some work can be planned around a known date. Other requirements depend on an event, a profile input or configuration that still needs confirmation. Treat these differently when deciding what belongs in the immediate work queue.

The work queue brings eligible dated controls into focus. The broader library remains relevant for reference material, event-driven requirements and unresolved scheduling items. An item outside the immediate queue should not automatically be treated as irrelevant.

For reporting, examine the requirement and its timing in the firm’s context. Confirm the facts or events on which the reporting obligation depends before treating a schedule as final.

Keep planning and evidence distinct

A due date answers when work is expected. An owner identifies responsibility. Neither proves that the activity took place or that it achieved its intended purpose.

When preparing a review, ask what was required, what process was intended and what evidence is available about execution. Keep a missing document, an unresolved requirement and an ineffective control distinct: each needs a different follow-up.

Symmorphosis OS helps organise the regulatory and operational context for those questions. The assessment of evidence and the conclusions you draw remain part of your professional review.
